June Miner
Predoctoral researcher

June studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Basque Country (2024). During her undergraduate studies, she gained her first research experiences through voluntary laboratory training at Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute and the Biofisika Institute, as well as through an Erasmus+ stay at the University of Aberdeen (UK). She then pursued an MSc in Biomedical Research (2025), developing her Master’s thesis in our group, where she explored the role of IL-1α/β in metastatic breast cancer. Her strong interest in cancer research, together with the excellent laboratory environment, led her to start her PhD focusing on cytokine-mediated remodelling of the metastatic tumour microenvironment, with a particular emphasis on oncostatin M. She has been awarded a predoctoral fellowship from the Basque Government to support her doctoral research. Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking in the mountains and practising aerial acrobatics on silks.
